The Executive Chairman, Adamawa State Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Hon. Umar Iya Daware have admonished the new Director General of the Adamawa State Debt Management Agency Prof. Ibrahim Danjuma to bring to bear his vast wealth of experience in the development of the Agency and the state at large.
The Chairman was speaking when he granted audience to the delegation from Adamawa State Debt Management Agency led by its new Director General Prof. Ibrahim Danjuma who were at the Fiscal Responsibility Commission Office for a familiarization visit.
Hon. Daware who welcomed the delegation also congratulated the new Director General for his well-deserved appointment stating that the State Governor made a right choice in appointing Prof. Ibrahim Danjuma, going by his antecedent, a season academic with vast experience in financial management.
He said the visit is coming at the right time because this is the best time to foster stronger synergy between the two sister agencies to ensure things are done in the transparent and fiscal prudence in line with the successful initiative so far introduced by the state Governor.
Hon. Daware said the Commission have made modest achievement within their time on the saddle of affairs of the Commission, amongst some of these achievements are Implementation of Fiscal Responsibility Law at Local Government level as well as Organizing Workshop for Local Government Chairmen in the state, the first of its kind in conjunction with the Ministry for Local Government Affairs as regards Budget Planning and Implementation.
Another workshop was also put up for Budget Officers of all the 21 Local Government in the state and Staff of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission with the title “Effective Budget, Planning and Control” not to mentioned the in house training on going.
Hon. Daware charged the Debt Management Agency with the need for collaboration when it comes to the enforcement of the laws establishing both agencies for the betterment of the state as they remain the eyes and ears of the government, implementation the provisions of the laws establishing the two agencies.
He also called on the DMA to raise up to the task of debunking and clearing the doubt of the state citizens concerning the debt profile of the state as being spread by peddlers of rumor who do not wish the state well, without asking the proper question at the appropriate places concern for clarification.
Stating that with what is visible in the state all doubting Thomases will have no reason but to agree that the government have done its best touching every sector in the state in terms of development.
Hon. Daware was quick to stress that with development spread across the state Adamawa State have become a point of reference in infrastructural development and effective utilization of its resources.
He stated that both agencies should strengthen their existing collaboration with the Ministry of Finance in the area of capacity building in line with the Governor’s drive for prudent management of available resource replicating the development so far witnessed in the capital down to the grass root for the citizens to enjoy the dividend of democracy.
Earlier in his remark the Director General Debt Management Agency, Prof. Ibrahim Danjuma applauded the Chairman Fiscal Responsibility Commission, His Commissioners and staff for what they have been able to achieve, pointing out that the mutual understanding and partnership as briefed by both agencies is a strong foundation that must be built on for the betterment of the state and that is why he found it pertinent to come personally for this all important visit.
Prof. Ibrahim thanked the Commission for the warm reception accorded his team and the partnership the agency have enjoyed over time, which he said he will work hard to build on and leave it better than he met it.
He said his visit to the Fiscal Responsibility Commission is not for technical discussions but to familiarize himself with and introduce himself to the Commission members as he assumed his new role.
Prof. Ibrahim said his visit is to set the pace for better things to follow between the two sisters agencies in terms of collaboration and capacity building for the staff of both agencies with requisite requirement expected of them to function properly with new trend. He commended the Commission for their efforts and the work they are doing and hoping that with the synergy to be built both agencies will go places by placing Adamawa State on a higher pedestal for all to be proud of.
